Rental Car information for Baltimore-Washington-Marshall Airport

In order to accommodate the many car rentals at the BWI Marshall Airport, the airport has chosen to open a rental car facility that combines all services off-site. To reach the car rental office, you will need to take the free shuttle. It is located in the lower level terminal. The shuttle leaves every ten minutes, and the shuttle ride takes about 10 minutes. The address is 7432 New Ridge Road in Hanover, MD.

You can choose from one of eight car rental companies. This includes Avis, Hertz, Alamo, National and Enterprise. This also includes Budget, Thrifty and Dollar. With the high demand, be sure to reserve your car in advance or you may not get the type of car you want. For tourists, smaller cars are in greater demand these days, especially for the stop-and-go traffic that is common to the area.

You will want a car with a navigation device. BWI Marshall Airport is located near Baltimore, Washington, D.C., and the seemingly endless suburbs that surround both cities. I-95, the major north-south corridor, is often congested, and a GPS can help you get where you need to go with less trouble. To reach Philadelphia from BWI, you will travel north on I-695 to I-95. To reach West Virginia, you will travel west on I-695 to I-70 to I-81. To reach Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, you can pick up I-83 on the northwest side of Baltimore’s I-695.

You should find out the parking situation at your destination and be prepared to pay for a parking garage to park your rental car. Most hotels have parking but they charge a premium fee for the privilege.

When you are ready to return your rental car, you will return it to the New Ridge Road facility. It is located near the intersection of Stoney Run and New Ridge Road off of I-195 just southeast of Baltimore’s I695.
