About Buffalo Airport

Buffalo Niagara International Airport is the largest airport in Upstate New York. Servicing Southern Ontario, Canada, as well as Buffalo, New York, Buffalo Niagara is the third busiest airport in the state. Buffalo Niagara was originally named Buffalo Municipal Airport and began operating passenger flights in 1927. After many renovations, it was decided that an all-new building was necessary. The new airport opened in 1997, and it has continued to expand and evolve since.

Although it used to be one of the costliest airports in the country to fly out of, recent efforts have brought a greater number of low fare airlines to Buffalo Niagara. Because of these lower fares, the airport has seen a large amount of growth. These lower fares draw New Yorkers and Canadians, and one-third of the passengers serviced in from Canada.
