About Cleveland Hopkins Airport

Cleveland Hopkins Airport has the distinction of being the first public commercial airfield in the United States. The airport also pioneered numerous technological advancements, such as a ground-to-air radio control and an airfield lighting system. The airport was a midpoint destination for bicoastal air mail carriers and aviation trailblazers, such as Lindbergh and Earhart. The city named the airport in honor of former city manager William Hopkins for his instrumental role in establishing the airfield. The airport has one terminal building segmented into four separate concourses that contain over 50 jet bridges and 24 ramp loading positions.

Inside the terminal building, passengers can access numerous retail shops and eateries. The airport has a bank, ATMs, mailboxes, customs services and an interfaith center for reflection and prayer. Travelers can exchange their currency before or after the security checkpoint. Internet access is available in the business center. There are artistic exhibits displayed throughout the terminal. The artwork depicts the city’s future, present and past in a range of creative formats. Near Carousel 1, members of the U.S. Armed Forces will find a USO Lounge named in honor of Cleveland native Bob Hope.
