Jacksonville Intl Airport Information
The Jacksonville International Airport (JAX) is located in northern Jacksonville, just minutes from Downtown and a short drive from the beaches. Great shopping, numerous hotels and many restaurants surround this airport. Getting to and from the airport couldn’t be easier. Not only is there ample airport parking, but also there are also many local parking lots that provide airport shuttle services.
The Jacksonville International Airport is comprised of three concourses that all flow into one central security checkpoint and lobby area. This two-story airport offers a wide range of amenities to make traveling that much easier. Passengers can pick up souveniers at any of the dozens of shops and boutiques or grab a meal at the food court, restaurants, or snack stands. If you are looking to relax between flights, take a moment to enjoy the meditation room, get a shoeshine, or play in the game room.
The comfortable lobby, located before the security checkpoint is a circular area that features tables, rocking chairs and Jazz artists playing live music. A food court, restaurant, eatery, and gift shops surround this circular area.
JAX is also home to the Haskell Art Gallery. This gallery features collections by some of Florida’s most accomplished artists and historic places. The work is rotated regularly so there is always something new for visitors to see when they visit the gallery. Past exhibits include the collections from the Lightner Museum, Adria Krantz, Georgina Holt, and the Jacksonville Watercolor Society.
Because of its convenient location to many of North Florida’s most visited areas, more than 400,000 passengers travel through this airport every month. Those who do are within a short drive of the Jacksonville Beaches, Ponte Vedra, Orange Park and Fernandina Beach. Slightly farther south are popular tourist destinations including St. Augustine and Daytona Beach.
