Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport Information

As the fourth Phoenix airport, the Sky Harbor International Airport began with just one runway. Scenic Airways constructed the airport in 1928. However, the Acme Investment Company purchased the facility after the stock market crash. Later, in 1935, the city took over managing the Sky Harbor. American Airlines soon started scheduling passenger flights along with airmail service, and the airport grew.

When passengers depart from the Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport, they may want to contact the airport-parking department ahead of time to confirm availability. If parking spots are open, then passengers can choose to park in the airport’s terminal garages or economy parking. The airport also features two free waiting lots for friends or family who are picking up their traveling loved ones.

The Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport includes Terminal 2, 3 and 4. Terminal 2 offers shops and restaurants along with a special needs area where passengers can access wheelchairs and mobility devices. Terminal 3 features one of the airport’s museums along with retail shops while Terminal 4 includes a second museum in addition to gift shops and restaurants. Passengers can also access ATM banking and currency exchange in Terminal 4.
