Rental Car information for Seattle-Tacoma Intl Airport

Travelers landing or arriving at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport have plenty of travel options available, including bus routes, taxi services and personal cars with paid parking, but none as immediate and personal as a rental car.

At the SEA-TAC airport passengers who land and wish to see the city or surrounding area may disembark and go to the brand new rental car facility that was completed in May 2012 to house all the various rental car counters. The new building was constructed to allow passengers at Seattle-Tacoma to more easily find transportation by going to a single building rather than multiple counters. Companies are housed in a five story building, with four operational floors for rental car counters, and the facility is capable of quickly processing between 12,000 and 14,000 cars every day, according to the airport's website. The fifth floor is reserved for a bus plaza, customer service and parking for employees.

The facility is located a short distance from the airport itself, so those who need to go rent a car, truck or SUV may board shuttle buses outside two different, designated areas outside baggage carousels 1 and 15 after picking up their checked bags. The shuttle buses take passengers to the rental car facility, where they can choose from several different providers.

Companies currently operating rental services out of Seattle-Tacoma International Airport include Alamo, Avis, Budget, Hertz, National, Advantage, Thrifty, Enterprise, EZ Rent-A-Car, Fox Rent A Car and Payless. Rentals through Rent-A-Wreck are available at a different area, and customers wanting to use that business may board a different shuttle at the rental car facility to go to the Rent-A-Wreck area.

Rental cars may also be returned to the new consolidated rental car facility. Anyone with a car to return should enter via SR518 and follow the signs to the building that houses rental companies.
